The final “Granada Strategy” document by the Spanish Presidency, which lays out Spain’s views on the future of European information society policies, has now been circulated.
There are some changes compared to the draft document commented by La Quadrature a few days ago, but the same flaws remain. The “Granada Strategy” calls for the status quo on Net neutrality by surrendering to competition law, which falls short of guaranteeing the fundamental rights of Internet users. Like the draft, the text makes dangerous recommendations regarding spectrum management and copyright enforcement.
Other Member States, the European Parliament as well as the Commission must reject the Spanish approach to make sure that the EU Digital Agenda protects the open nature of the Internet and fosters the knowledge society.
