What we did in 2008-2009:
La Quadrature du Net, fighting for the defense of our fundamental freedoms over the Internet, led the fight against the 'three strikes' law (HADOPI) in France and managed to carry a strong message beyond the media buzz and governmental propaganda.
The HADOPI Black-Out operation was followed by more than 2 million webpages to stress the opposition of French web actors to the 'three strikes' law.
Throughout the review of the Telecom Package directives, La Quadrature du Net, along with its European supports, put the question of fundamental freedoms at the core of the debate, most notably with the adoption of the amendment 138.
Mémoire Politque (Political Memory) is one of the citizen participation tools developed by La Quadrature du Net. It easily allows citizens to get to know their elected representatives and to follow their votes on key topics. It also enables citizens to easily contact elected representatives in order to inform them on specific issues.
Issues for 2010:
ACTA
The multilateral agreement ACTA is currently the biggest threat to our freedoms over the Internet for now. It particularly plans to encourage 'graduated responses' and a new regime of liability for service providers, which would result in Internet filtering.
Net Neutrality
More than ever, it will be necessary to promote Net Neutrality as an essential safeguard of civil liberties in the digital age.
LOPPSI
The LOPPSI bill plans on initiating censorship of the web in France, in the name of the fight against child pornography, against which it will prove absolutely ineffective.
HADOPI
Document the implementation and subsequent failure of the HADOPI 'three strikes' scheme.
